Co-founder of GitHub, Chris Wanstrath, incurs GitHub ban due to malfunctioning automated ban system

This morning, the GitHub account named “defunkt” belonging to Chris Wanstrath, co-founder and former CEO of GitHub, was mysteriously banned. However, GitHub recently lifted the ban, with current COO Kyle Daigle stepping in to investigate where the system went wrong.

Wanstrath is a legendary programmer who created Electron, a framework for building web-based desktop applications. He also developed popular code editors such as Resque, Mustache, and Atom. During his tenure as CEO of GitHub, Wanstrath navigated the company through the acquisition by Microsoft and eventually stepped down after the deal was finalized. Currently, he has founded a studio called Null Games, focusing on game development.
