AIS collaborates with the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) and CAT Telecom to deliver disaster alert messages via Location Based SMS (LBS).
The SMS messages will be sent under the sender name DDPM (Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation) and will be directly from the DDPM. There are 2 levels of alerts: advance warning 12-24 hours in advance and emergency alert 6-12 hours in advance, similar to the True/dtac system.
Mr. Waruthep Wacharaporn, Head of AIS Public Relations Department, confirms that genuine disaster alert SMS messages will not contain any links for personal information input. He warns the public to be wary of malicious individuals who may send false disaster alert messages in this manner.
