Microsoft Thailand and the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) have announced their collaboration under the Government Security Program (GSP) to coordinate with the Thai public sector in sharing and exchanging cyber threat intelligence in the digital world. This collaboration operates under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) where Microsoft teams up with the Thai government.
The GSP initiative will enable Microsoft and NCSA to exchange in-depth information obtained from Microsoft such as technical details regarding cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, abnormal behaviors, malware information, and critical security issues related to Microsoft products and services. For instance, when Microsoft discovers a vulnerability, they notify NCSA beforehand, 5 days in advance or 24 hours in urgent cases like the wannacry event. This data allows NCSA to assist in overseeing, monitoring, and collaborating with various government entities in resolving issues.
Additionally, Microsoft and NCSA conduct training activities on Copilot for Security and the use of AI to support cybersecurity efforts for government agencies and personnel responsible for safeguarding critical information infrastructure (CII). In the future, they may consider expanding collaboration to cover accessing technical documents or source code from Microsoft products and services or conducting thorough technical document analysis at Microsoft’s Transparency Centers across the globe, including the United States, Ireland, Singapore, Brazil, and China.
