United Airlines has announced a partnership with SpaceX to provide in-flight Wi-Fi service using the Starlink satellite internet. Passengers will have access to this service free of charge.
As per United Airlines’ plans, they will equip all their over a thousand aircraft with Starlink connectivity devices, with testing set to begin in early 2025. The full installation is expected to be completed within a few years after that.
The airline highlights Starlink’s ability to provide continuous service, even in locations above the ocean, at the earth’s poles, or in areas with low internet signal. United Airlines, with its major routes crossing the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, finds Starlink’s service particularly beneficial.
