Apple confirms official layoffs according to documents filed in compliance with the state of California’s termination regulations. A total of 614 employees are affected by the decision.
The group of impacted employees is the same as those previously reported, responsible for the driverless car project, with approximately 2,000 employees in the program. Additionally, included are staff from Apple’s own microLED development project, totaling 58 individuals, mostly from LuxVue Technology, acquired by Apple in 2014.
When combined with the Siri team layoffs in Santa Clara in January, Apple has let go of over 700 employees this year.
