Steam has removed the game Fursan al-Aqsa: The Knights of the Al-Aqsa Mosque from its UK website at the request of the Counter Terrorism Internet Referral Unit in the United Kingdom. The game, developed by independent game developer Nidal Nijm from Brazil, has been available on Steam in other countries since 2022, utilizing the Unreal Engine.
According to the game’s Steam page, it does not support terrorism or anti-Semitism, but rather serves as a simulation of warfare in the context of Israeli attacks on Palestine, similar to games like Call of Duty.
Nijm stated in an interview that he is not upset with Valve or Steam for complying with the request, but argues that if his game is banned, then games like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which depict American soldiers attacking enemies in Iraq, should also be banned.

TLDR: Steam removes the game depicting the conflict between Israel and Palestine following a request from the CTIRU in the UK. The game developer does not oppose the decision but questions why other games depicting similar violence are not banned.
