Delivery Hero, a company providing food delivery services from Germany, has announced its plan to merge its subsidiary units under its umbrella. This includes Foodora and Yemeksepeti, serving in the European region, and Foodpanda, serving in Asia. They will now operate as a single team under the supervision of Tareq Barto, who is currently the CEO of Talabat, a food delivery app under the Delivery Hero group that operates in the Middle East.
The consolidation of these three brands aims to unlock operational efficiencies and promote growth in alignment with profitability goals. Despite the merger, all brands will continue to operate in their respective markets under their existing names.
As a result of this consolidation, a certain number of employees have been laid off. While Delivery Hero did not officially disclose the exact number, Bloomberg reports indicate it to be around 200 individuals.
