Microsoft has announced some exciting new features for OneDrive. The most thrilling update is that OneDrive for Windows now supports customizable folder colors, allowing you to see folder colors in Windows File Explorer.
While folder color customization has been available in OneDrive for web for business and education accounts since 2023, this feature has now expanded to the Windows version. It is available for use today, but still limited to business and education accounts.
On the OneDrive for web side, they have added file type filters and improved file sorting capabilities. This can be used with our own files, files shared by friends, and organizational files. It will be operational for business accounts by the end of 2024.
OneDrive for web has also enhanced its speed, allowing for seamless online and offline work. Even without an internet connection, you can create, edit, and organize your files.
Another significant feature of OneDrive is its integration with Copilot services. This entails creating Copilot Agents that have an extensive knowledge of our files, can answer questions, and perform various tasks with our files. Agents can be created and shared within teams.
The standard Copilot service is now available to all organizational customers. It can summarize documents, compare file differences, and answer questions related to file content.
TLDR: Microsoft’s OneDrive introduces new features such as customizable folder colors for Windows, enhanced file sorting and filtering for web, and integration with Copilot services for efficient file management.
