HTMX, a popular small-scale web framework, has gained increasing popularity since the release of version 2.0 following the release of version 1.0 in 2020. The framework underwent significant changes by separating and opening up various extensions such as Server Side Events, Web Sockets, and Preload from the main project for easier updating of individual versions.
With the extensions separated, this version removes features previously found in the main project, standardizes the API, and maintains backward compatibility, although it can no longer work with old code due to API changes. Notably, all support for Internet Explorer has been removed.
A unique aspect of this new version is the team’s decision not to consider 2.x as the latest version, allowing developers time to adjust. The term “latest” now refers to version 1.x until January 2025.

TLDR: HTMX, a rising star in web frameworks, releases version 2.0 with significant changes, enhanced standards, and extended support until January 2025.
