Cutting-Edge RISC-V CPU Notebook Debuts with Octa-Core CPU Preloaded with Ubuntu from Factory

DeepComputing, a company based in Hong Kong, has unveiled their RISC-V-powered laptop known as the DC-Roma RISC-V Laptop II, which comes pre-installed with the customized version of Ubuntu 23.10 right out of the box. This laptop features an eight-core RISC-V processor SoC K1 from the Chinese company SpacemiT, with a 2TOPS AI Fusion Computing Engine NPU chip, 8/16GB of RAM, a maximum storage capacity of 1TB, a 14″ FHD display, and weighs just 1.36 kilograms. What sets this laptop apart from others is the inclusion of an 8-Pin Development Interface port for connecting external compiler tools.

Canonical, the developer of Ubuntu, has officially voiced their support for DeepComputing, stating that porting Ubuntu to run on RISC-V processors is a necessary step and having a stable foundational software will greatly accelerate the development of RISC-V products by developers. The DC-Roma RISC-V Laptop II will be available for pre-order soon, with the pricing yet to be disclosed.
