Former Treyarch studio head Jason Blundell departed from Activision in 2020 only to establish a new company, Deviation Games, in 2021, but had to close operations in 2024 without releasing a game.
Most recently, Blundell revealed his new role as the head of a new studio under the Sony umbrella called Dark Outlaw Games, quietly operating for some time now. More information on the game project they are working on is expected to be announced soon.
Blundell noted that PlayStation Studios rarely establish first-party studios, with the latest being Malaysia Studio in 2020, which supports other studios within the company, along with Jade Raymond’s Haven acquired in 2022. It is a great honor for him to lead this new studio.
