Confluence has introduced a new feature called Confluence database, which essentially transforms Confluence into a database. Previously, Confluence was used to store knowledge repository in the form of pages stored in a database. However, the introduction of the database feature allows the data stored in Confluence to not necessarily appear in the form of pages all the time (separating data storage from presentation). We can directly import data from external sources such as Jira, CSV, HTML into Confluence database and choose to present this data as pages in different templates.
Atlassian states that this feature centralizes organizational data, making it easily accessible, continuously updated from the original sources, reducing duplicate data storage issues, and decreasing manual data collection processes.
TLDR: Confluence introduces Confluence database feature, enabling direct data import from external sources and flexible data presentation options, streamlining data management processes effectively.
