Decree from Google: All shortened links using goo.gl will be inoperative by August 25, 2025.

Google has announced that links shortened using the goo.gl URL shortening service will no longer be functional starting from August 25, 2025. This change will take effect beginning August 23, 2024. When accessing links from https://goo.gl/* after this date, a warning message will alert users that the URL will no longer be available after August 25 next year. Google has cautioned developers utilizing workflows through this goo.gl URL, such as 302 redirects, that they may experience repercussions as early as next month.

Google unveiled plans to discontinue the goo.gl URL shortening service since 2018, closing off new URL shortening but allowing previously created URLs to remain operational. At that time, a definitive timeline for complete service cessation was not specified.

TLDR: Google is shutting down the goo.gl URL shortening service, with existing links set to become obsolete from August 25, 2025 onwards. New URL shortening services are no longer available, but existing shortened links will continue to work without a specified date for complete service termination.
