Decree in Epic Games Case Declares Google’s Play Store Walls Tumble

It’s been 8 months since Epic Games won the lawsuit against Google, which resulted in the removal of the Epic Games Store from the Play Store. The court has ordered Epic Games to specify their claims and for Google to calculate the expenses of integrating the Epic Games Store into the Play Store.

The latest development is that the court held its final hearing today, with Judge James Donato stating that he will “break down the barrier” imposed by the removal.

Epic Games and Google agree that opening up the Play Store is possible, but they still disagree on the time required, the costs involved, and Google’s right to review all apps from all stores before allowing them on Google Play.

Judge Donato stated that he will not micromanage every detail, but will have Google and Epic form a joint committee to make technical decisions and report back to the court every 90 days. The final hearing will take place in another 2 weeks.

TLDR: Epic Games won lawsuit against Google, court orders clarification of claims and calculation of expenses. Final decision in 2 weeks.
