Chris Cocks, the CEO of Hasbro, the company behind the Dungeons & Dragons franchise, confirmed to Bloomberg that a new Dungeons & Dragons game is currently in development. This comes after the highly successful release of Baldur’s Gate 3 in the Dungeons & Dragons universe in 2023.
The spotlight shines on Larian Studios, the developers of Baldur’s Gate 3, who have announced they will not be making a sequel (despite the game’s overwhelming success) and their new game will be an original creation, not tied to any existing entertainment franchise.
As the owners of the franchise, Hasbro’s side must find other game studios to develop Dungeons & Dragons games. Hasbro has revealed they have found a studio to work on the game, but they have yet to disclose the studio’s identity or any details about the game.
Hasbro has a total of four announced Dungeons & Dragons projects:
1. A new game by Invoke Studios, creators of Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance.
2. A survival simulation game developed by Gameloft Montreal, known for Disney Dreamlight Valley.
3. A VR game by Resolution Games, known for digital board game Demeo.
4. A co-op game called Project Baxter by Starbreeze, creators of Payday.
