Discontinuation of Production: Microsoft Ceases Manufacturing of HoloLens 2 Without Future Iteration Plans

Microsoft has informed partners and customers that production of HoloLens 2 has been halted. The product will be available for purchase until stock runs out. HoloLens 2 will receive security updates and software improvements until December 31, 2027, after which all software support will cease. The original HoloLens will receive updates until December 10 of this year, or two months from now.

The future of HoloLens seems uncertain, with rumors of a potential third generation not materializing, key creators departing Microsoft, followed by significant layoffs. Microsoft states that the HoloLens project for military development for the US Army continues under the name HoloLens IVAS.
