Discontinuation of Support for Apple TV 2nd and 3rd Gen Announced by Netflix

Netflix has informed users of the 2nd and 3rd generation Apple TV app that support will be discontinued starting July 31, 2024, rendering it unable to stream Netflix content. The reason cited by Netflix is to maintain the best viewing experience, as all newer Apple TV models (Apple TV HD 4th Gen and Apple TV 4K 1st, 2nd, 3rd Gen) will still be able to access content as usual. For those using older Apple TV models, Netflix recommends upgrading their device or utilizing other viewing methods like smart TVs.

The Apple TV 2nd Gen, released in 2010, supports a maximum picture resolution of 720p, while the Apple TV 3rd Gen, released in 2012, supports up to 1080p and does not support tvOS, the operating system developed by Apple for Apple TV.

TLDR: Netflix will no longer support the 2nd and 3rd generation Apple TV models after July 31, 2024, urging users to upgrade to newer models for an optimal viewing experience.
