Discord Now Hiring Advertising Sales Executives – Anticipating Ads to be Displayed on Platform Soon

The Wall Street Journal reports that Discord is planning to incorporate advertising on its platform, in the form of promotions from video game producers, and offering rewards for completing specified missions. All of this will take place during game broadcasts on Discord.

Discord has previously been a social platform that has rejected the revenue model based on advertisements. CEO Jason Citron has stated multiple times that the company does not want to rely on advertisements like Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok. However, reports indicate that Discord is now hiring several positions in the advertising department, suggesting that the advertising plans on Discord may be more extensive than previously thought.

Currently, Discord’s main source of revenue comes from the subscription service Nitro, which allows users to access features beyond the free version, such as uploading larger files, starting at a price of $3 per month.
