Discounted Total War: Pharoah Videogame Sales Plummet by 33%; Refunds Prompted Amidst Severe Criticism, Partial Restitution Issued

Creative Assembly, a subsidiary of Sega and renowned studio behind the Total War series, has issued an apology to its customers and fans for the subpar quality of their latest games, Total War: Warhammer III and Total War: Pharaoh.

Total War: Warhammer III, the main installment set to release in 2022, faced issues with its latest DLC called Shadows of Change, which not only lacked substantial new content but also fell short in terms of game quality, considering its hefty price tag of $29.99. To remedy this, Creative Assembly plans to release a new update with additional free content in February 2024. Moreover, the release of the next DLC, Thrones of Decay, originally slated for the end of 2023, has been pushed back to April 2024 to allow for sufficient development time.

Total War: Pharaoh, on the other hand, received criticism for its inadequate value at its initial price of $59.99. In response, the studio has adjusted the price down to $39.99, and those who have already made the purchase will receive a refund of the price difference through Steam. The higher-priced versions, such as the Deluxe Edition and Dynasty Edition, will be discontinued, leaving only the standard version available. Additionally, the first DLC, scheduled for an early 2024 release, will now be offered as a free download instead of being sold.

Unfortunately, this year has not been a favorable one for Creative Assembly, as the studio recently canceled the development of Hyenas, a weightless shooter game, resulting in the release of some employees.

TLDR: Creative Assembly, known for the Total War series, apologizes for the lesser quality of Total War: Warhammer III and Total War: Pharaoh. They plan to address the issues by releasing new updates and free content. Total War: Pharaoh’s price has been reduced, and higher-priced versions discontinued. The cancellation of the Hyenas game has led to staff layoffs.
