Discover Vintage Warner Bros. DVD Collection from 2006-2008 Showing Signs of Quality Deterioration

Chris Bumbray, the editor of the JoBlo movie review website, shares his experience as a film collector who discovered that DVD discs from Warner Bros. produced between 2006-2008 suffered from “disc rot,” deteriorating in quality to the point where they were unreadable.

Bumbray points out the misconception that owning a movie disc means it will always be playable. We no longer truly own our films.

Following this revelation, Warner Bros. representatives have stated they are willing to replace the faulty DVDs with new ones as long as stock lasts. If the movie discs are no longer available, they are open to compensating with an equivalent alternative.

Ars Technica highlights the long-standing issue in the film collector community, noting that this problem has not affected Blu-ray discs in later years. Warner Bros.’ DVDs from 2006-2009 (numbers may not align with the studio’s records) have already gained a reputation for quality deterioration.
