Dominant Leader Donald Trump Joins TikTok with Over 3 Million Followers

Donald Trump has joined TikTok and his first post showcases him attending a UFC competition in New Jersey, just two days after a court ruling in a hush money case (source: BBC Thai). In his debut video, Trump expresses that it’s a great honor to be there.

As of writing this report, Trump’s TikTok account has garnered 3.3 million followers, with his initial video receiving over 58 million views. What’s interesting about Trump’s foray into TikTok is that he previously advocated for banning the app in the United States during his presidency in 2020, though the ban never materialized until President Joe Biden issued an executive order to force TikTok to separate from its parent company or face a ban, resulting in TikTok filing a lawsuit in response.

Steven Cheung, Trump’s spokesperson, has explained that the reason behind Trump’s TikTok account is to assist in garnering support for the upcoming U.S. presidential election, acknowledging that it serves as a channel to reach the younger demographic that supports Trump.

Previously, Trump voiced concerns about Biden’s ban on TikTok, stating that the app poses a threat to national security but disagreed with the ban as it benefitted Facebook immediately. Interestingly, President Biden himself has a TikTok account managed by his campaign team, citing it as a communication channel with over 300,000 followers.

TLDR: Donald Trump has joined TikTok, garnering millions of followers, amidst previous stances on banning the app and concerns over national security. President Biden also has a TikTok account managed by his campaign team.
