Windows AI Studio, an AI development toolkit on Windows, was recently launched by Microsoft at Ignite 2023. It is now available for download as a preview version. Windows AI Studio is an extension of VS Code, so you will need to install VS Code on Windows first. However, despite its name, running it requires Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) and Ubuntu 18.04+ installed on your machine. Additionally, it currently only supports NVIDIA graphics cards.

The Register website tested Windows AI Studio and found that its features are somewhat limited. However, it does function as advertised – allowing you to download models and fine-tune them based on the available dataset. You can then run these models as chatbots on your machine. The testing revealed its suitability for running small-sized models like Phi-2 on a PC.
