Daylight unveils the E-Ink screen tablet, the Daylight DC-1, an Android tablet with a Live Paper display that eliminates glare similar to E-Ink but with a high refresh rate of up to 60fps. The Live Paper screen is an advancement from the previous RLCD technology, overcoming limitations in viewing angle, resolution, and screen glare, delivering E-Ink-like quality while supporting smooth motion picture display. However, E-Ink still holds a slight edge.
The DC-1 boasts a 10.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1600×1200 pixels at 190dpi, a soft yellow backlight, MediaTek Helio G99 processor, 8GB RAM, 8000mAh battery, and a Wacom EMR Passive stylus. Running on Android 13 customized for focused reading, known as Sol:OS.
Pre-order price set at $729, acknowledged by the team as high due to the screen being a proprietary production and limited in quantity.
