The Sims franchise celebrates its 10th anniversary since The Sims 4 was launched in September 2014. EA has recently confirmed that they will continue to release updates for The Sims 4 and will not introduce The Sims 5 as a new installment.
Kate Gorman, the GM of The Sims, revealed in an interview with Variety that instead of releasing new installments like The Sims 2, 3, and 4, the team is now focusing on a “new era” strategy. This involves moving away from replacing older versions and instead concentrating on updating the existing world of The Sims with new content that fans desire in The Sims 5.
The Sims is evolving into a franchise with its own unique universe. Besides the games, there may even be original movies within The Sims universe. Currently, aside from the main series, there are additional projects like The Sims Project Rene, which supports multiplayer, MySims console versions, and The Sims Project Stories, along with The Sims Hub, which has yet to reveal details.
