Rose Wang, the Chief Operating Officer of Bluesky, revealed to The Verge that currently Bluesky has over 14.5 million users. In the past week (when Donald Trump won the election), Bluesky saw an increase of 700,000 new users.
At present, Bluesky ranks as the second most popular social networking app on the App Store in the United States, just behind Meta’s Threads.
Bluesky has been experiencing continuous growth, such as after updating its Privacy Policy to allow 3rd Party AI training from platform data, resulting in over 1.2 million new accounts in just 2 days.
The Verge suggests that Bluesky’s recent surge in growth is due to the US election results, prompting some users to seek an alternative platform not associated with Musk (who publicly supported Trump) and one that isn’t saturated with hateful speech like on X.

TLDR: Bluesky is rapidly gaining users, ranking high on the App Store, and attracting new users due to recent events like the US election and the desire for a platform free from negativity.
