Google has enhanced Chrome on desktop by incorporating Google AI and Gemini technologies to improve usability. The details are as follows:
Google Lens on Chrome Desktop
Previously available on smartphones, Google Lens can now be used on Chrome desktop in a similar fashion. By selecting the Google Lens icon on the toolbar and choosing an area on the screen, users can search for information within images or text (such as mathematical equations). Additionally, users can further refine their searches through Multisearch.
Google Lens on Chrome Desktop will begin rolling out to global users in the coming days.
Comparison Tab
Chrome has introduced a Comparison tab that allows users to compare products by opening a tab to view and compare product information easily. With the help of AI, the Comparison tab summarizes the content for users.
The Comparison tab will initially be tested with users in the United States.
Natural Language History Search
Chrome (and other browsers) already display web browsing history in the History section with a search box. Chrome has enhanced this feature by allowing users to search their history using natural language. By working with AI, Chrome can provide assistance in cases where users have forgotten specific details, such as “What was that ice cream shop I looked at last week?”
This feature will initially be tested with users in the United States and can be disabled for privacy.
