Google introduces a new feature called Circle to Search at the Galaxy Z Fold 6 launch event yesterday. The standout feature is using Circle to Search to solve mathematical equations and problems. Simply take a picture of the problem, draw a circle on the screen, and receive the solution.
Another feature of Circle to Search is full screen translation, allowing translation of an entire screen. For example, snap a picture of a product price tag in a foreign language, press and hold the home button to translate the whole screen. Additionally, you can highlight specific words with your finger to search for more information. For instance, find out how a particular dish looks by highlighting the name.
Another noteworthy feature announced by Google is the ability to scan QR codes on the screen using Circle to Search. This saves time by eliminating the need to save the QR code image and then look for a separate reader.
In addition to Circle to Search, the Gemini app introduces a feature to search for information related to the YouTube videos you are watching. For instance, when watching a dancing video, you can bring up Gemini and ask what dance move is being performed. This showcases Gemini’s multimodal model, supporting both images and text.
These features are exclusive to Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 for now, with no confirmation on availability for other smartphone models (especially the Galaxy S24, which received Circle to Search first). Stay tuned for updates.
TLDR: Google unveils Circle to Search at Galaxy Z Fold 6 launch event, enabling math problem solving and full screen translation. The feature also includes QR code scanning and YouTube video information search. Available exclusively on Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 for now.
