Besides Copilot Search in Bing, Microsoft has also introduced a new suite of services and features in Copilot, labeling it as “Copilot is Your AI Companion.” In terms of features, they may not differ much from competitors in the market that have already introduced similar features, but it is still a move to keep Copilot up to speed with its rivals.
The first feature to take note of is Copilot Chat, which serves as the main service. It now has memory of our preferences, such as our favorite foods, movies we enjoy, or places we have visited based on past conversations with Copilot. Users can customize what Copilot remembers or forgets.
In terms of appearance, the feature creates avatars for Copilot according to our preferences (hello Clippy!), making the user experience more enjoyable. Users can command Copilot to perform certain actions on web pages, following the trend of Agentic AI that is currently popular. Microsoft explains that Copilot Actions can work on most websites, with some partners confirmed to work seamlessly together like 1-800-Flowers.com, Booking.com, Expedia, Kayak, OpenTable, Priceline, Tripadvisor, Skyscanner, Viator, and Vrbo.
Vision is continuously evolving since the launch of Copilot Vision in late 2024, which was originally limited to web usage. It has now expanded to mobile cameras (similar to Google’s Project Astra) and the Copilot app on Windows, which can analyze and understand images.
Pages allow users to store notes, various contents on Copilot in one place, acting as a digital notebook for our ideas or information (similar to NotebookLM). Following Pages, Podcasts are also available, converting notes into audio files.
For shopping, Copilot helps gather product information, compare prices, and notify users when products are on sale. Similar to other AI assistants, Copilot is capable of deep research, allowing users to instruct it to delve deeper into specific details.
