Enhanced iOS 18.3 Update: Bug Fixes, Notification Summary Enhancements, and Multiple Vulnerability Patches

Apple releases a major update for iOS 18.3 for iPhone, iPadOS 18.3 for iPad, and macOS Sequoia 15.3 for Mac today.

The latest in iOS 18.3 includes the addition of Visual Intelligence capabilities that provide information through images seen from the camera. It now allows adding appointments to the calendar directly from posters or announcements and enhances the ability to identify plants and animals. This feature is exclusive to the iPhone 16 series.

Both iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3 also address the issue of Notification Summary, which previously summarized content inaccurately. Apple has adjusted to use italics, added labels indicating AI-generated text, and temporarily disabled functionality in news and entertainment apps, similar to the Calculator app bug fix that allows for repeated calculations and fixes the issue where the keyboard might disappear when using Typed Siri.

In this update, Apple has also added background themes supporting the Black Unity project for 2025 and fixed over 20 security vulnerabilities, prompting users to update to the latest version.

Other operating system updates include:

macOS Sequoia 15.3 now features Genmoji similar to iOS and addresses Notification Summary and Calculator bugs.

watchOS 11.3 introduces a Black Unity watch face.

visionOS 2.3 addresses bugs and security vulnerabilities.

tvOS 18.3 enhances general features.

iPadOS 17.7.4 fixes security vulnerabilities for iPads updating to iPadOS 18.

macOS Sonoma 14.7.3 and macOS Ventura 13.7.3 fix security vulnerabilities for Macs not updated to Sequoia.

TLDR: Apple’s latest updates bring new features like Visual Intelligence, Black Unity support, and security fixes across different operating systems.
