Apple has released iOS 18.4 beta 1 for developers to test before the official update for general users in April, as previously announced. Along with enhanced language support and the addition of Image Playgrounds feature that allows Sketch-style image options, Apple has also introduced an intriguing new capability related to notifications.
This feature is called Priority Notifications, which utilizes Apple Intelligence to help prioritize and display what it deems as important notification messages at the top of the lock screen to ensure this information is not missed. Users can view other notifications by swiping up as usual.
Users must opt-in to enable this feature at Settings > Notifications > Prioritize Notifications. In normal circumstances, notifications in iOS are displayed based on the time of arrival. With Priority Notifications activated, important messages will always appear at the top until viewed, similar to email prioritization systems.
iOS 18.4 is currently a beta version for developers, with general users gaining access in April.
