Enhanced Siri Capabilities in iOS 18: Empowering Apps with Advanced Command Execution

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has recently reported on the latest information he has received regarding the new capabilities of Siri in the upcoming iOS 18 operating system that Apple will unveil at the WWDC event next month. There have been ongoing rumors that Siri will have enhanced abilities, including in Generative AI.

Gurman mentioned that the new Siri in iOS 18 will have increased capabilities to control and manage various functions within apps. For example, calling up specific documents, moving notes to another folder, sending emails, deleting emails, attaching links in emails, and summarizing web content.

Additionally, Siri will support multi-step commands as it has adjusted its working structure to align with Apple’s LLM model more effectively. For example, one can now command Siri to write a summary of a meeting and send it via email to team members, which was not possible before due to the two-step requirement.

Initially, these capabilities will be limited to Apple’s basic apps. It is expected that Apple will fully enhance these capabilities by the year 2025, with hundreds of supported commands.

Finally, in terms of hardware, Gurman mentioned that AI capabilities will primarily work on the iPhone 15 at a minimum, while iPads and Macs must have at least the M1 chip.
