Enhanced Specifications: Apple Upgrades iPad Air with M2 Chip Featuring 9 Cores, Previously Claimed to Have 10 Cores

Apple has updated the specifications or technical details of the latest iPad Air model using the M2 chip. Initially, Apple stated that the M2 chip has a 10-core GPU, but the recent information has been revised to 9 cores.

As of the time of this report, the English spec sheet indicates a 9-core GPU, while the Thai spec sheet indicates 10 cores. Additionally, the English language support document mentions 10 cores.

Apple has not explained the reason for the change, and looking back at previous Apple products using the M2 chip, the MacBook Air had options for an 8 or 10-core GPU, and the iPad Pro had a 10-core GPU. This is the first instance of seeing the M2 chip with a 9-core GPU configuration.
