Enhanced VisionOS 2 by Apple enables Spatial image creation, introduces innovative hand gesture commands.

Apple introduces visionOS 2, a Spatial Computing operating system for the Apple Vision Pro headset. This new version enhances image display, hand gestures, and introduces new tools for developers. Photos now have the ability to create Spatial images with increased depth. Additionally, users can share photo albums through SharePlay, allowing for a new collaborative photo viewing experience. Apple has also announced that Canon will release a new Spatial lens for the EOS R7 camera this year, enabling creators to capture Spatial videos. This feature will be available on the iPhone 15 Pro.

visionOS 2 also introduces new gestures, such as raising a hand and making a finger gesture to access the Home Screen, and lowering a hand and making a finger gesture to access the Control Center or view battery levels. The Mac Virtual Display in visionOS 2 now supports larger virtual screen sizes up to 4K resolution on two screens.

Furthermore, visionOS 2 includes new frameworks for developers, like TabletopKit for creating virtual tables. An example app showcased is playing chess with another user’s avatar.

visionOS 2 is now available for developer testing in beta status, with general updates and support for additional languages in the future.

TLDR: Apple launches visionOS 2 with enhanced Spatial Computing features, new gestures, and frameworks for developers, as well as support for larger virtual screen sizes and collaborative photo sharing.
