Microsoft has unveiled a new set of features for the Microsoft 365 app, Copilot, as part of the Microsoft 365 suite (distinct from Copilot on the consumer side). Adding to the Wave 2 feature set in September 2024, a significant new development is the Agent Store, a marketplace for Agents tailored to specific tasks. The initial two Agents introduced are the Researcher, which conducts in-depth data research across multiple steps, and the Analyst, likened to a skilled data analyst. Microsoft specifies that these two Agents leverage OpenAI’s deep reasoning models. Additionally, there are external Agents available from partners like Jira, Monday.com, and Miro, as well as the ability to create custom organization-specific Agents.
Following this, the next feature is Copilot Notebooks, which consolidates content from various sources such as websites, document files, and meeting recordings, allowing Copilot to reference information from these contents, summarize key points, answer queries, and even generate podcasts. This feature is reminiscent of Google’s NotebookLM, which pioneered this approach to prominence.
Furthermore, Microsoft 365 Copilot also incorporates features from the consumer side, like Copilot Search for internal organization data search and integration with external services, Copilot Create for customized image creation, and the memory feature for retaining past queries or data for future reference.
TLDR: Microsoft introduces new features for the Microsoft 365 Copilot app, including the Agent Store for task-specific Agents, Copilot Notebooks for organizing heterogeneous project data, and various functionalities like Copilot Search, Create, and memory feature for enhanced user experience.
