Enhancing Android Security: Google Introduces Innovative Android Theft Protection Feature

Renowned Android blogger Mishaal Rahman reveals that Google has begun rolling out an update for the Android Theft Protection feature announced in May to some users.

This feature, known as Android Theft Protection, consists of three sub-features:

Theft Detection Lock, utilizing AI to detect instances where someone snatches our phone and attempts to flee. If AI detects such behavior, it automatically locks the screen to prevent easy access to our data.

Offline Device Lock, in case thieves try to disconnect the device from the internet to evade being tracked, the AI system will monitor various signals to determine if our device is with someone else and locks it. For example, if multiple login attempts fail, the screen will be locked.

Remote Lock, leveraging the Find My Device network, allows us to remotely lock our device by simply entering a phone number and completing certain security challenges to confirm our identity.

All three features are compatible with Android 10 and above, and will be updated via Google Play Services.
