YouTube has unveiled a new tool in Creator Studio that allows creators to label content if it is generated by AI, whether it’s synthetic or altered, as per guidelines announced by YouTube last November.
The platform states that labeling is done to provide transparent information to viewers. However, content that is clearly fictional, animated, includes effects, or utilizes Generative AI in production does not require labeling.
For example, content that mimics real individuals, creates simulated scenarios in various locations, or constructs imaginary scenes based on real events would fall under this category.
Viewers of labeled content will see information indicating that the clip was created using AI, both in Shorts and regular videos on YouTube.
