Enhancing Data Transfer Speeds to 80 Gbps with Windows 11 Insider’s USB4 v2 Compatibility on Existing Cables

Microsoft has released the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 23615 (Dev Channel), which introduces a significant new feature: support for the USB4 v2 standard, recently launched in 2022. This standard allows for increased data transfer speeds of up to 80 Gbps on the existing USB Type-C cables, doubling the previous capability of 40 Gbps on v1.

Currently, the hardware that supports this feature includes devices from the Intel Core 14th Gen HX lineup, specifically the latest gaming laptops of this year, such as the Razer Blade 18.

Another notable change in Build 23615 is the adjustment of the Copilot settings, which now automatically opens the sidebar. However, this change applies only to devices with a 27″ screen and a minimum width of 1920 pixels. Microsoft clarifies that this is still an experimental feature limited to the Insider group and may not be enabled in the stable version.

TLDR: The latest Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 23615 introduces support for the USB4 v2 standard, enabling faster data transfer speeds. It also includes other updates such as improved Copilot settings for specific devices. However, these features are currently in the testing phase and may not be available in the final release.
