Enhancing Google’s Search and Assistant departments to adapt to the rising prominence of Gemini era.

Google announces the restructuring of the organization within the departments related to Knowledge & Information services, in order to adapt to the changes in AI and information retrieval services. Gemini will play a more prominent role in various product lines.

The Gemini app team, led by Sissie Hsiao, will collaborate with the Google DeepMind team, led by Demis Hassabis, to incorporate new AI models into the Gemini app and gather user feedback more efficiently.

The Assistant team, focusing on devices and smart homes, will now fall under the Platforms & Devices team to develop AI for home devices.

In this transformation, Prabhakar Raghavan, head of Knowledge & Information overseeing Google Search, Assistant, Geo, Ads, Commerce, and Payments services, will move to the position of Chief Technologist at Google. Nick Fox will be promoted to oversee Knowledge & Information.

TLDR: Google is restructuring its Knowledge & Information departments to adapt to AI advancements, with Prabhakar Raghavan moving to Chief Technologist and Nick Fox assuming a leadership role in Knowledge & Information.
