Google Meet has introduced a new feature called “On-the-Go” for mobile usage, aiming to provide a user-friendly and situation-appropriate interface. As the name suggests, the On-the-Go mode is activated when movement is detected, such as walking, driving, or using public transportation. A notification will appear, stating that Google Meet is entering On-the-Go mode, with essential buttons enlarged and reduced to the necessary options (Mute, Unmute, Hand Raise, Select Audio Device). The meeting room interface will only display audio, including the meeting topic, number of participants, and the person currently speaking.
Users also have the option to choose additional display settings, such as showing the currently presented file or exiting the On-the-Go mode altogether. This feature is available for all Google Workspace customers, including general Google accounts.
TLDR: Google Meet introduces the On-the-Go mode for mobile users, offering a simplified interface for users during movement. Buttons are enlarged and reduced to necessary options, while the meeting room interface only displays audio. Additional display settings and the ability to exit the On-the-Go mode are provided. Available for all Google Workspace and general Google account users.
