Google has updated the capabilities of smart home devices such as Nest Camera and functions in Google Home with the power of Gemini AI to support smarter operations. Details are as follows:
Firstly, the ability to analyze information in videos. The Nest Camera can now better understand objects seen in images, not just detect motion. Users can search with questions like “Did the kids leave their bikes in the driveway?” and Google Home can find corresponding videos that match the query.
Gemini also supports the ability to assist in writing scripts for Google Home automation. Users can specify conditions they want, such as “Lock the doors and turn off all the lights at bedtime”, and get desired results. If not satisfied, adjustments can be made.
This feature will be tested with a limited group of Nest Aware customers in Public Preview status before the end of this year.
Google Assistant on Nest Speaker and Display has also been upgraded. Google says the Assistant now has a better understanding of language, smoother conversations, and improved ability to handle consecutive questions. Watch the clip below for an example.
