Google has revamped the appearance of the Family Link app, designed to manage the digital lives of the younger generation. The interface is now divided into three tabs:
Screen Time is dedicated to managing screen time, viewing screen usage statistics, and customizing settings.
Control allows for managing other aspects such as content on YouTube/Chrome and app purchases on Google Play.
Location enables tracking the whereabouts of your children.
Family Link has also introduced the option to switch between profiles for multiple children, each with different guidelines. Swiping makes it convenient to switch profiles.
In addition to the app on smartphones, Google has launched the School Time feature for wearable devices (currently supporting Fitbit ACE LTE and Samsung Galaxy Watch for Kids) to limit smartwatch usage during school hours, such as restricting outgoing calls and turning off notifications.
TLDR: Google has updated the Family Link app with new features for managing screen time, controlling app usage, tracking location, and setting guidelines for multiple children. Additionally, a School Time feature is introduced for wearable devices to limit usage during school hours.
