Enhancing Productivity: Google Docs on Android Tablets Introduces Sidebar Formatting, Google Slides Adds Video Capture from Camera

Google has announced a new feature for Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets on Android tablets, which is the addition of a formatting sidebar to accommodate the screen space on tablets, reducing the need to tap on the screen to adjust document formatting. This feature, now available for use, will be widely rolled out on March 6, 2024, allowing users to switch between the new formatting sidebar and the traditional toolbar by simply tapping on the “A” button in the toolbar.

As for Google Slides, the web version now supports dragging and dropping image files from the operating system directly onto the slides to change the background image, making it convenient for users who may have a collection of image files stored in folders and prefer dragging files over selecting them one by one.

Another feature of Google Slides is Speaker Spotlight, which involves adding a video feed object into the presentation document. When starting a presentation, users can directly pull a video feed from their webcam into this space, creating a live presentation document to captivate viewers’ attention.
