Bing has announced the addition of a new feature that utilizes AI to summarize answers on the search result page, similar to Google Search’s AI Overview feature. Bing’s approach involves utilizing SLM and LLM language models to provide summarized answers, a technique previously used in Bing Chat/Copilot but now integrated directly into the search result page. This eliminates the need to separate into different pages or tabs. For example, when searching for the term “what is a spaghetti western,” the AI-generated summary content with reference links will be displayed in the main column of the search result page.
The original search engine results will still be displayed, but they will be shifted to the second column on the side instead (see accompanying image). The new full-screen search interface of Bing boasts a modern look.
Bing has stated that they will monitor how the new search result page interface affects the traffic redirected to various websites and gather feedback from users before gradually rolling it out on a wider scale.
TLDR: Bing introduces AI-powered answer summaries on the search result page, integrating language models to provide concise information directly within the search interface.
