Enhancing Security Measures: Google Cloud Set to Mandate Universal MFA Login by 2025

Google Cloud has announced the implementation plan for multi-factor authentication (MFA) across the board, with a gradual rollout scheduled to be fully enforced by the end of 2025.

Phase 1: In November 2024, users are encouraged to enable MFA through various notification channels such as the Google Cloud Console, highlighting the benefits it provides.

Phase 2: By the beginning of 2025, MFA will be mandatory for users logging in with passwords.

Phase 3: By the end of 2025, MFA will be enforced for users logging in through other systems via Google Cloud (federated authentication).

Google states that currently, 70% of Google users are already utilizing MFA and recommends enabling it immediately through the settings page in Google Account without the need to wait for mandatory enforcement.
