Microsoft’s Windows Sandbox feature allows users to run Windows within Windows (running in a container) since the era of Windows 10, but it is limited to the Pro version only. Its purpose is to test new applications without worrying about system crashes or malware infections.
In the recent Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27686 (Canary Channel), Microsoft has enhanced the capabilities of Windows Sandbox to be similar to other virtualization applications that cater to the same group of customers.
New additions to the Windows Sandbox include support for folder sharing and clipboard sharing with the host operating system. This facilitates seamless data transfer between the host operating system and the system running in the sandbox, making it much more convenient than before.
