Enhancing Windows with Microsoft’s Microsoftware: Game Bar Compact Mode, Streamlining Xbox Game Pass Apps on Mobile Devices

Microsoft announces enhancements and changes to the features of the Xbox app on Windows and mobile as follows:

Xbox App for Windows

Introducing the Game Bar Compact Mode, initially designed for smaller screens like portable gaming devices running Windows, now expanded for all Windows users. Users can choose between the traditional Game Bar (Win+G) or the new Compact Mode.

The Xbox app now allows managing game add-ons, whether purchased separately or as bundles.

Xbox App on Mobile

The Xbox Game Pass app is now integrated into the main Xbox app, combining member management features and game library viewing. The original Xbox Game Pass app will cease to be available for download in November.

One feature removed from the app consolidation is the inability to play games via Xbox Cloud Gaming directly from the Xbox app. However, gaming through a mobile browser is still an option.

TLDR: Microsoft updates Xbox app with Game Bar Compact Mode, add-on management, and integration of Xbox Game Pass into the main app for mobile users.
