Enhancing Workflow Efficiency: Microsoft Universal Print Supports Pull Printing with QR Code Scanning for Seamless Paper Retrieval

Universal Print is Microsoft’s cloud-based print management service that introduces the “pull print” feature, officially known as Universal Print anywhere. This feature allows us to send documents to the cloud for printing without having to select a specific printer and then walk up to a printer to scan a QR code or authenticate ourselves before the document is printed.

This feature has been available in high-end printers within organizations for a long time. One of its key benefits is reducing the risk of others seeing sensitive information in printed documents (some companies refer to this as secure release). However, Microsoft has now developed its own version of this feature through software that can be used with any printer.

From the user’s perspective, they will see the logical printer as if it were a regular printer in the system. When printing, they can simply select this printer.

Additionally, Universal Print now also supports macOS as announced last year, with the status now officially being General Availability (GA).
