Nevertheless, Telegram has not provided the user count to the EC in the past month, indicating fewer than 45 million accounts, prompting the EC to consider further investigation.
Prior to this, Telegram stated after CEO Pavel Durov’s arrest in France, confirming the company’s compliance with digital laws. However, should Telegram surpass the threshold of 45 million accounts, falling into the category of a large platform, additional actions and collaboration with state agencies for investigations may be required.
