The debate regarding the sales figures and popularity of the game Concord continues unabated. While we can see the number of players on Steam, the player count on PS5 remains a mystery as Sony does not disclose these statistics.
IGN consulted two industry analysts for their opinions:
Mat Piscatella, an analyst from Circana (formerly NPD Group), provided data from Circana’s statistical system stating that Concord ranks 147th in terms of player count on PS5 in the United States, accounting for 0.2% of all PS5 players on that day.
Simon Carless from GameDiscover.co estimated that Concord sold around 10,000 copies on Steam and another 15,000 copies on PS5, totaling 25,000 copies.
Many analysts approached by IGN shared similar views on the factors contributing to Concord’s lack of success. These include poor pre-launch marketing, failure to build a fan base interested in purchasing the game, selling a $40 game in a market flooded with free-to-play games, lack of a network effect to attract more players, and the game’s lack of differentiation from similar hero shooter games like Overwatch, Valorant, and Apex Legends.
TLDR: The game Concord faces challenges in sales and popularity due to various factors including marketing strategies, pricing in a competitive market, and strong competition from other hero shooter games.
