Eviction of Vintage Filmmaking and Relics by PlayStation Store Leaves Discovery’s Admirers Perplexedly Disheartened

In addition to selling digital games, PlayStation Store also offers digital movies and series for gamers to watch on PlayStation. However, the company recently announced that Discovery’s series and TV shows will be removed from the platform on December 31, 2023. This decision comes despite customers having purchased these programs, with the reason being a short-term agreement between Sony and Discovery.

Several customers who had previously bought movies voiced their complaints on Reddit, stating that they had always believed that purchasing the content would make them permanent owners. However, this is not the case in the age of downloads, where being the owner of content relies on both the service provider’s servers and DRM restrictions.

TLDR: PlayStation Store will remove Discovery’s series and TV shows from its platform, despite customers having purchased them. This decision is due to a short-term agreement between Sony and Discovery, causing discontent among customers who believed they would own the content permanently.
